Dave Kennedy Sportsmanship Scholarship

Purpose:

Provide a scholarship to players who exemplify the ideals of sportsmanship as showcased by Dave Kennedy’s actions and love of the sport, on and off the ice.

Scholarship:

Monetary benefit provided to awarded players to cover monthly ice costs

Timing:

Scholarship write-ups to be submitted by end of November, award to be given in January

Funding Source:

BCOHL Over Thirty Men’s Hockey league year-end fundraiser and Dave Kennedy Scholarship Fund (Managed through BC Foundation)

Scholarship Award Amount:

$400 per year (defined by Renee Kennedy)

Eligibility:

Current Battle Creek Hockey Players – Squirt through Juniors

Scholarship Process (suggested):

  • Coaches submit a write up for their player submission with reasons why the players should be considered (based upon Sportsman Morals).  Multiple submissions per team are allowed
  • Men’s league board to select Scholarship Winner (1 per year)
  • Award is given to be applied to remaining year costs

Scholarship Morals:

The Dave Kennedy Scholarship Award is given Annually to the Battle Creek Hockey player who exhibits the highest ideals of Sportsmanship including; Fair Play, Courtesy toward Teammates, Opponents, and Officials; Integrity of the Game, Ethical Behavior, and Grace in both Winning and Losing efforts.
